Local startup Kite Magnetics is to establish a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Melbourne’s southeast. The investment will enable the company to scale up development and production of its groundbreaking Aeroperm® technology used to create lighter, smaller and ultra-efficient electric motors. Backed by the Victorian Government, this investment strengthens Victoria’s position as a leader in advanced manufacturing and clean technologies.
Kite Magnetics is the producer of Aeroperm® technology – an ultra-energy-efficient material that is used to create lighter, smaller and more efficient electric generators and engines.
Aeroperm® is accelerating electrification with smaller, lighter, and more efficient motors—driving down EV costs and extending the range of electric aircraft. Developed in Victoria, this breakthrough is set to transform industries worldwide. Said Richard Parsons, CEO and Founder for Kite Magnetics
The new facility will increase production of Aeroperm® to 50,000 tons per year by 2029 and generate jobs in material science and automation engineering – boosting local and global export markets and benefiting industries like automotive, transport and mining.
Increasing production of the company’s cutting-edge technology will also speed up development of highly efficient electric aircraft engines and help grow the zero-emissions aviation sector.
The Victorian Government is also supporting the local aviation industry to reduce their emissions, with the Dovetail Electric Aviation’s Development Centre, which opened in 2024 and is helping the local aviation industry to transition to renewable energy.
The Victorian Government has set world leading targets to achieve net zero emissions by 2045 and is backing this through the Advanced Air Mobility Industry Vision Statement and Action Plan, which outlines how the state will develop industries like clean aviation and advanced manufacturing to drive economic growth.
