Detailed plans have been unveiled for the new Arden precinct, reaffirming North Melbourne as a major inner-city hub for thousands of jobs, affordable housing and transport links.
Developed by the Victorian Government in partnership with the City of Melbourne, the Draft Arden Precinct Structure Plan outlines a thriving new neighbourhood for Melbourne’s inner north-west centred around the Metro Tunnel Project’s new Arden Station.
Arden will be an employment and innovation precinct and a thriving new neighbourhood for Melbourne’s inner north-west, aspiring to accommodate approximately 34,000 jobs and be home to around 15,000 residents.
The plan is a growth blueprint to guide the precinct’s development, complementing the neighbouring Parkville biomedical innovation and research precinct and turning North Melbourne into an employment hub for science, health, education and digital technology.
Establishing the Arden precinct over the next 20 years will provide thousands of jobs in building and construction and create ongoing stimulus for Victoria’s economic recovery.
