Podium Australia is expanding its APAC headquarters in Melbourne. The expansion is the company’s largest operation outside of the US and it now services over 4,000 customers across Asia from Melbourne.

Starting as a small-scale project in a spare bedroom in 2014, the company is now considered a US Tech unicorn with a market capitalisation of US$3 billion and employing more than 1,000 people around the world.

Podium provides tech and AI services for everyday businesses across a range of industries to improve customer service, develop communication processes and build online presence.

Driven by the rapid uptake of Podium’s new products in the US, including VoIP Phones, AI Tools and First Party Payment Systems, the expansion of the Melbourne HQ provides an opportunity to launch and establish these products in new markets, including Australia and New Zealand, supported by customer support with improved time zone coverage.

This decision highlights Victoria's strategic advantages within the global tech landscape. With robust infrastructure, a skilled talent pool, and strong R&D capabilities, Victoria offers a dynamic environment for tech companies to innovate and thrive.

Since establishing its Melbourne office in 2018, Podium Australia has received dedicated support from Invest Victoria and the Victorian Government Trade and Investment (VGTI) US office. Through regular engagement and monitoring of progress, key decision makers have identified and provided targeted support to strengthen Podium capabilities. This assistance is instrumental in helping Podium drive growth and expand into new markets.

Podium’s growing presence will be a welcome addition to the sector which contributed $35.6 billion to the state’s economy in 2023, supporting more than 279,000 tech workers in 22,500 ICT businesses.
