Australian technology company SKUTOPIA has chosen Victoria for a major expansion, establishing a new National Distribution Centre in Altona that will help businesses access next-generation fulfilment technology while creating 155 high-skilled jobs.

Representing a $50 million investment, the facility is expected to become SKUTOPIA's largest operation nationally and will form a key part of its expanding Australian logistics network. The centre will ultimately house more than 1,000 robots powered by the company's proprietary artificial intelligence technology.

Founded in Australia, SKUTOPIA is helping transform how products move from businesses to customers. Its technology uses artificial intelligence to forecast demand, optimise inventory placement and coordinate robotic fulfilment, helping businesses deliver products faster and more efficiently.

Bringing world-class logistics technology within reach

As consumer expectations continue to evolve, businesses increasingly need access to sophisticated fulfilment capabilities that can support growth, speed and operational efficiency.

SKUTOPIA's technology is designed to give Australian businesses access to logistics infrastructure and capabilities that have traditionally only been available to some of the world's largest retailers.

The new Victorian facility will significantly increase the company's ability to support retailers and brands across Australia, enhancing both direct-to-consumer fulfilment and large-scale retail replenishment operations.

Victoria's growing AI and robotics ecosystem

SKUTOPIA's investment adds to Victoria's growing reputation as a destination for technology-driven businesses looking to scale.

What makes this facility particularly important to us is that the intelligence behind it is being built here in Australia. Our software, AI and robotics technology has been developed by Australian teams, and this investment in Victoria allows us to continue building that capability at much greater scale.

The project will create roles across software engineering, artificial intelligence, robotics, ICT, operations and advanced logistics, highlighting the increasing convergence of digital technologies and advanced industrial capabilities.

The facility also demonstrates how automation and advanced technology can complement workforce growth, creating opportunities for highly skilled workers while supporting ongoing workforce development. Approximately 60 of the new positions will be software engineering roles, with additional jobs created across robotics and operations functions.

Innovation supporting productivity and sustainability

The new facility also demonstrates how emerging technologies can support more sustainable business operations.

SKUTOPIA's robotic fulfilment model delivers a 75% lower carbon footprint per order compared with traditional warehousing, helping businesses improve efficiency while reducing emissions across their supply chains.

The company's AI-powered fulfilment platform also delivers an industry-leading 99.96% order accuracy rate, helping businesses improve customer outcomes while reducing operational complexity.

This expansion was made possible with support from the Victorian Government.

A platform for national growth

The Altona investment marks an important milestone in SKUTOPIA's national growth strategy and reflects Victoria's attractiveness as a destination for technology, automation and logistics investment.

As businesses increasingly seek smarter, faster and more sustainable supply chain solutions, investments like SKUTOPIA's demonstrate how Victoria is supporting the technologies and capabilities that will help shape the future of commerce.
